The Aesthetic Union is a San Francisco-based letterpress print shop. Everything is made by hand using our vintage letterpress machinery.
We offer custom letterpress printing for individuals and businesses. Our shop carries stationery, art supplies, original art prints and collaborations with local artists.
Since the day our doors opened, we have specialized exclusively in letterpress printing. We do the jobs that larger print shops can’t run due to limited quantity, and can’t achieve in terms of quality control and texture.
For over a decade, The Aesthetic Union has been preserving letterpress as a practice. As one of the last remaining letterpress print studios in the Bay Area, it’s our mission to keep this time-tested art form alive. In an increasingly digital world, we keep the human element front and center, delivering unmatched quality, texture, and design.
Letterpress is the oldest of the traditional printing techniques, and as patrons of the press, it’s our goal to preserve it for generations to come.
While we operate as a letterpress print studio, we provide a physical space for creation & collaboration so that everyone has access to letterpress printing services, equipment, and education. Like all things, the preservation of letterpress happens in numbers. More printers. More awareness. More interest. More appreciation. That is how this dwindling art form will live on. For anyone interested in letterpress at any level, we have the programs and resources to get you rolling!
