This print is made from some hole-filled stones I found on a jetty in Half Moon Bay. A piddock clam is a curious creature that makes its home in stones. Sometimes these stones wash up on shore, and whenever I see them, I pick at least some up. I didn’t know til now that they were clam homes, I only remember my mom telling me they are good luck.
I was making printing plates one day for our commercial jobs, and had a lot of extra space on them. I realized I had some of these stone homes in pocket. I laid the stones down, knowing the light would pass through to create some lovely, organic shapes, and voila, my newest obsession: prints made from these holy stone homes. I hope these stone prints bring you the clam stone luck too!
