Where The Wind’s Like a Whetted Knife (after Uehara Konen)
Where The Wind’s Like a Whetted Knife is a block print created by James Lewis Tucker of ocean waves in the style of Japanese artist Uehara Konen.
Where the Wind’s Like a Whetted Knife, Where air and water violently swell
Ever since learning about Japanese block prints James was inspired by late 19th-century printmaker, Uehara Konen. Konen was known for creating oceanic depictions of crashing blue waves and turbulent tides on woodblocks. This print was inspired by Konen's 1910 piece, Hatō zu. James breathed new life into this classic piece and created an iteration of it unlike anything else. "Where The Wind’s Like a Whetted Knife" was created using a reductive linocut letterpress block printing method. Now available as an Archival DIgital Print.
